Part I is intended to reinforce the lecture material on basic electronics principles using the microcontroller. The students are provided the equipment to program and interface a microcontroller using a relatively simple language: BASIC. Part I introduces controllers using the BASIC Stamp from Parallax, Inc. The students independently perform the first part of this manual and the labs during the first 2 courses. The final course is on microcontrollers using the 8051 as an example. The first 2 courses cover analog and digital principles. During a 16-week period, the students take 3 lecture courses, each presented over 3 weekends.
